Bob Diamond, chief executive of Barclays Capital, has succeeded in persuading Mark Kibblewhite, one of the investment bank's top executives, to stay. He first resigned in March.

However Kibblewhite will swap the investment bank - where he was head of corporate risk management and capital markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa - for Gerrard Investment Management, Barclays' private client wealth management arm, where he will be managing director.
