Appetite for direct investment grows at family offices

Family offices are increasingly doing private equity deals directly – thereby bypassing fund managers and the fees they charge, a report by UBS and Campden Wealth Research has found.

The report, which sheds light on a particularly opaque community of investors, has found two-thirds of family offices investing in private equity lead their own deals rather than invest either as co-investors alongside private equity firms or traditional funds, or through deals syndicated by an investment bank.
