Dominant Ice given European clearing boost

IntercontinentalExchange received a further boost for its successful credit derivatives clearing venture yesterday when the US securities regulator approved its expansion into Europe, a day after the Atlanta-based derivatives market outlined plans to extend the service to fund managers.

The Securities and Exchange Commission said it will allow US-based institutions to clear their credit default swap trades through European clearing houses operated by both Ice and Germany's Deutsche Börse.
