Dreamworks uses blockbuster films in securitisation deal

US film company Dreamworks recently raised $1bn (€1.02bn) from its extensive movie portfolio in a rare transaction using securitisation technology.

A securitisation facility and a $500m revolving loan refinanced outstanding credit facilities. The securitisation is backed by a portfolio of live action and animated films produced or co-produced by Dreamworks, the company set up by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen in 1995.
