Dresdner to quit commercial lending outside Europe

Dresdner Bank will stop lending money to all but its investment banking clients outside of Europe, the bank said on Wednesday.

Dresdner is to exit commercial banking everywhere but in its home market, closing branches in Canada, Thailand and India and paring back operations in China and Australia. The bank had already announced plans to cut branches and personnel in Germany.
