John Duffield will this week unveil his first investment vehicle since launching New Star Asset Management, the firm he expects will make him a second fortune in the fund management business.

His move coincides with the launch of a fund-of-funds vehicle by Jupiter, the firm he founded and famously left with £175m (€287m) of Commerzbank's money in his pocket.
