Dutch cable firm issues equity for second time in six months

United Pan-Europe Communications, the Dutch cable company, has turned to its backers for the second time in less than six months by launching a €1.5bn ($1.4bn) rights issue and private placement.

The deal, unveiled on Friday, underlines the difficulty for technology and alternative telecommunications carriers in tapping the public equity markets for capital.
