Dutch government slams 'locusts'

The Dutch government has reignited the debate over the short-term interests of hedge and private equity funds by labelling some investors as "locusts", mirroring controversial comments made by the German government last year.

In an outburst on Dutch radio, Joop Wijn, the country's minister for the economy, warned that some investment funds "behaved like locusts devouring companies one after the other."
