Dutch pension funds told to strengthen buffers

Financial regulator in the Netherlands has released a report warning that the country's pension funds must make big changes to protect retirement savings

Dutch pension funds are in need of “far-reaching measures” to strengthen the financial buffers that protect their retirement savings, as low interest rates and investment returns continue to exacerbate funding shortfalls.

According to a report released by Dutch financial regulator De Nederlandsche Bank, or DNB, the average funding ratio of Dutch pension funds has fallen to 99%.
