Dutch pledge more EU action and less red tape

Financial reforms will be a top priority for the Netherlands as it takes over the European Union's rotating presidency with a programme which will combine "realism and ambition".

For the next six months, Dutch officials say the emphasis will be on completing as many of the measures outlined in the European Commission's Financial Services Action Plan as possible and to put pressure on member states to implement agreed EU rules rather than launching new legislation.
