Private equity activity in East Africa is on the rise, as buyout firms head to the region in search of higher returns.

The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association said the region accounted for 18% of the total number of private equity deals in Africa between 2011 and 2014, up from 13% between 2007 and 2010.
