The European Commission has thrown cold water on UK government plans to promote a new enterprise scheme.

In this year's Budget, the UK government announced the launch of its regional enterprise funds scheme. This Department of Trade and Industry scheme was heralded as a means of bridging the equity gap at the local level, providing funding (part government, part private funds) for enterprises across the country.
