ECB voices support for Commission’s euro-clearing grab

The European Central Bank, which in 2015 failed to force London-based clearing houses to move into the eurozone, has reiterated its support for the repatriation of euro-clearing after Brexit.

Speaking today at a Global Financial Markets Association conference in Frankfurt, the ECB's executive board member Benoît Cœuré said the EU's clearing regime was "never designed to cope" with major clearing houses operating from outside member states.
