ECM outlook for the US is grim, says SSB

Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) has warned that the first three months of 2003 could be one of the weakest in years in US equity capital markets, but debt markets are poised for recovery.

Guy Moszkowski, securities firm analyst at SSB in New York who was among the first to warn of the continued slowdown in the banking industry last year, said that equity capital markets need to pick up soon to avoid another poor quarter.
