Charlie McCreevy, the European Commission's internal market chief, is threatening to sue the French government over its proposals to ban foreign takeovers in ten key industries.
In an interview with Bloomberg, McCreevy said: "We will be vigilant as a commission that this is not allowed, because it would spell the end of the free market as we know it."
