England will not be facing a third national lockdown as the government’s tiered system of restrictions is the “robust and right and proper approach”, education secretary Gavin Williamson said.

Williamson said he is “confident we won’t be moving into a national lockdown as the tier system is the right place to be”, after the government placed 78% of the country under the toughest Tier 4 restrictions.
