Electronic trading pioneer Richard Balarkas has stepped down from the board of Cboe Europe after nine years.

Balarkas, who played a key role in modernising the London Stock Exchange after the Big Bang, left Cboe after serving a full term as a non-executive director, a spokesperson confirmed. He joined the board in February 2016.
