Hewitt Associates, the investment consultant, has won a contract to advise the £4bn (€6bn) UK pension fund sponsored by E.ON UK, part of the German utility giant.

The appointment follows the merger of four Electricity Supply Pension Schemes, the UK's PowerGen, Eastern, East Midlands and Midlands electricity companies, now part of E.ON, to form the fund.
