Icap, the interdealer broker recently admitted to the FTSE 100, has revealed plans to diversify into securities lending and is building an electronic platform to support the business scheduled for launch in Europe next year.

Icap has said the stock lending market is ready for a new transparent, screen-based platform based on the principle of price discovery.
