Stock exchanges in Asia have driven the most substantial half-year gains in the value of share trading across the globe since the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers.

The World Federation of Exchanges' latest figures show that the overall value of trading across its members, which include 59 exchanges globally, reached $27.7 trillion in the first half of 2013, up 23% compared with the $22.49 trillion recorded between July and December 2012.
