Ethos takes steps to soothe critics of controversial .org deal

PIR has agreed to an extension to March 20 for Icann to review the deal

Ethos Capital has made legally-binding commitments to appease critics of its $1.1bn acquisition of Public Interest Registry, which oversees the .org domain.

The commitments, which are being added to PIR’s registry agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers – the non-profit in charge of the domain-name system – look to enforce price limits, safeguard against censorship and protect personal data.
