EU alternative investment directive: the story so far...

The European Parliament will reconvene next week after a summer break, but one of the body's main committees has already re-started the debate over newly-proposed regulation of the alternative investment industry, with political figures from the UK and US on their way to Brussels to lobby against some of the more onerous elements of the directive. The European Parliament will officially re-open on September 14 in Strasbourg, but the Parliament's many committees, including the economic and monetary affairs committee, are meeting this week. The committee, known at Econ, is chaired by Liberal Democrat MEP Sharon Bowles.
