EU approves NYSE sale

Investigation concludes the takeover by IntercontinentalExchange does not raise competition concerns

The European Commission approved IntercontinentalExchange purchase of NYSE Euronext after an investigation found the proposed deal doesn't raise competition concerns.

"[NYSE Euronext] and Ice are not direct competitors in the markets concerned and would continue to face competition from a number of other competitors," the commission, the European Union's executive arm, said.
