EU benchmark proposal faces delays

Implementation of new EU benchmark regulation looks to be some way off as it struggles to get out of the starting blocks

The European Commission's far-reaching proposal for regulating benchmarks has been delayed as it grapples with an overloaded to-do list, according to three sources familiar with the situation.

The formal publication of the proposal for directly regulating benchmarks was expected in July but will now be published in September, the sources said. The Commission has chosen to delay publishing the proposal due to focus on other dossiers, those individuals said.
