Ahead of the UK’s departure from the European Union, Britain’s regulator set up a temporary permissions regime so that firms could still trade in the country during the choppy and uncertain transition to Brexit.

It was dubbed a landing slot — a time window for firms to either make their case to become permanently regulated in the UK, or give up their authorisation completely.
