Theresa May’s Brexit hand strengthens at home, but weakens on the Continent

MarketWatch: The good news for Theresa May, the British Prime Minister, is that a collapse in support for the opposition Labour party has strengthened her domestic political position to push on in the Brexit negotiations.

The less-favourable news is that the UK’s European partners are acting tough. The consensus is shifting on the Continent towards taking a hard line on agreeing a settlement on Britain’s potential “exit bill,” running into tens of billions of euros, as a precondition for starting constructive talks on the UK’s future relationship with the European Union.
