European leaders have allowed talks Brexit talks between the bloc and the UK to advance to the issue of future trade arrangements, a week after the two sides struck a breakthrough in talks on divorce terms.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May said on Twitter: "Today is an important step on the road to delivering a smooth and orderly Brexit and forging our deep and special future partnership."
