Eurex talks up exchange clearing role in OTC futures

Eurex, the derivatives exchange whose first over-the-counter-type credit product has not attracted a single trade for months, today re-opened the debate on the relative merits of trading on-exchange versus OTC, claiming exchanges are safer and more efficient.

Eurex, which is jointly owned by German exchange Deutsche Börse and the Swiss Exchange, claimed today futures exchanges had performed well in the face of the credit crisis.
