Eurex US clearer fights back after CBOT loss

The Clearing Corporation, the clearing partner for Eurex US, has bought onExchange, a US derivatives software provider, as part of its effort to diversify into new markets since losing business from the Chicago Board of Trade last year.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, comes as the Clearing Corporation suffers a dramatic loss in revenue since the Chicago exchange transferred its clearing business to the rival Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The Clearing Corporation is now heavily reliant on the fledgling US futures exchange, which has seen its volumes pick up though fail to reach critical mass. Efforts to gain regulatory approval for a controversial transatlantic clearing link should help boost volumes.
