A proposal to set up a joint equity liquidity pool between Deutsche Börse and Euronext was rejected by the Paris headquartered exchange, according to Deutsche Börse chief executive Theodor Weimer.

“We would love to do more IPOs on the startup side,” said Weimer in a call to journalists on 8 November. “The thing we need to do is create a deeper liquidity pool in Europe. We tried to do it, I made an approach to Euronext, but they decided to go their own way.”
