The reputation of independent research providers has risen a notch or two in the US and Europe because of the scandals that embroiled the investment banking community last year.

While many hope to ride the independent wave, particularly recently redundant analysts and open firms offering untainted research, they are unlikely to be successful on this side of the Atlantic.
