A host of large European banks have backed a new venture capital fund from Financial Technology Ventures, a US firm that specialises in financial information technology.

Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas are among the European investors in the $423m (€465m) fund. Others include Axa, the French insurer, Den Danske Bank and SEB, the Danish and Swedish banks.
