European investment banks’ share of global advisory and markets revenues have shrunk to all-time lows, according to new figures that suggest a brutal year of cost-cutting across the industry will continue into 2020.

At the same time, Wall Street banks have been gaining ground in almost every region in which they operate as they continue to capitalise on the flagging fortunes of Europe’s one-time champions of investment banking and trading.
