The European Commission’s financial stability team is making contact with some of Europe’s biggest banks over the price they are charging asset managers for research.

The move comes as some banks have been accused of "price dumping" during their negotiations with fund managers in order to win contracts. The concern is a race to the bottom on pricing undermines regulatory efforts to wipe out the role of inducements within the sale of research.
