European Commission to inject €750bn Covid-19 recovery plan

The president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said this would take the EU's total support package to €2.4tn

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has unveiled the bloc's "Next Generation EU" €750bn plan to pay for the blocs efforts to recover from the coronavirus downturn.

In a 27 May speech to the European Parliament she pressed for an overhaul of the EU’s finances to help raise the resource from capital markets.
