European dividends look set to slide

European companies are more likely to cut their dividends than their US counterparts, according to analysis by a data provider.

The findings come in the wake of the decision last week by Prudential, the UK insurer, to cut its dividend for the first time since the First World War. Chief executive Jonathan Bloomer said the move would save the group £200m (€285m).
