European exchanges calls for electronic access to US market

George Möller, president of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) and chief operating officer of Euronext, has called on the US to open up its markets to European exchanges via an electronic passport.

Although US investors can currently buy and sell European shares, the process is unnecessarily cumbersome and expensive according to Möller. Investors have to go their broker in the US, who then contacts the broker in Europe, who then executes the trade.
