The European Islamic Investment Bank, which is aiming to become the UK's first investment bank fully compliant with Islamic sharia law, has hired Daniel Marx as head of treasury and capital markets.

He was previously treasurer at Absa Bank, the South African bank acquired by Barclays in May, and has also been its head of funding and capital markets.
