European markets cautiously optimistic after Fed move

Wednesday's surprise rate cut by the US Federal Reserve has created a mood of cautious optimism in European equity and debt markets due to hopes that a turnaround in the anaemic US economy will help bolster growth in Europe.

However, European stock and bond prices remained relatively unchanged on Thursday, after edging higher Wednesday, as investors wait for more concrete signs that the world's largest economy is crawling out of the doldrums.
