European private equity firms explore $30bn megafunds

The largest private equity fund in Europe remains the €16bn pool that CVC Capital Partners gathered in 2017

European private equity firms are looking to raise more megafunds — in the $20bn to $30bn range — in anticipation of opportunities to take large companies private, according to consulting firm Bain & Co.

These funds are expected to be the most sizeable amount raised so far across the region, said Christophe DeVusser, lead of Bain’s European private equity practice, in an interview.
