Esma launches ETF consultation

The regulator hopes to improve the transparency of the sector, which has been accused of marketing complex products to retail investors

The European Securities and Markets Authority, the pan-European regulator, this morning published its long-awaited consultation on the exchange traded fund market in a bid to bring greater transparency to the sector.

The guidelines come amid a growing row in the industry regarding the complexity and risk of ETF products.
