Two of Europe’s biggest exchange operators, Nasdaq and Spain’s Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, have been investigated by competition regulators over concerns they are charging too much for stock market data, Financial News can reveal.

The probe comes amid rising tensions between venues, brokers and regulators over the way this information – a lucrative revenue stream for both exchanges – is sold.
