European Securities Forum justifies unified clearing

The European Securities Forum (ESF) has produced its first document outlining the economic and commercial justifications for a unified clearing agency handling all financial instruments.

The document strongly argues that Europe must avoid the problems experienced by the US, which had seven separate equities clearing counterparties until the formation of the National Securities Clearing Corporation in 1976.
