Active fund performance worsens further, says Morningstar

Fund analyst's latest figures represent a deterioration from six months ago, despite a larger survey

European fund managers’ 10-year success rate is poor and falling, according to new research by Morningstar, with only a minority managing to beat index-tracking funds over the very long term.

According to the fund analyst’s latest research, which looked at 10,840 active and passive funds in Europe split into 66 categories, a clear majority of managers beat index funds in only two of the categories studied, over the decade to June 30.
