LONDON (Dow Jones)--European stock markets opened lower Friday after another sharp decline overnight on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones Eurostoxx 50 index was down 0.7% at 4225.24 at 07:10 GMT, as Europe's markets reacted to a fall in the Dow Jones industrial average of more than 310 points, or 2.3%.
