The Brexit vote should not prompt the European Union to "turn its back on the UK and the rest of the globe", according to the chairman of the bloc's top financial regulator.

Steven Maijoor, who chairs the European Securities and Markets Authority, told those attending the watchdog's conference in Paris today that the EU and UK were "fundamentally interwoven" and "built upon cooperation, trust and commonality".
