Boutique investment bank Evercore has warned that fake recruiters posing as employees of the bank are fraudulently targeting jobseekers and asking for cash payments.

The bank, which is on course for its most active hiring year ever as it has capitalised on the fallout from larger rivals to bring in senior dealmakers, said "external parties" posing as Evercore recruiters were phishing for personal information and asking for payment from candidates.
