Ex-Barclays banker pushed on attempts to ‘diminish’ Staveley’s role in cash call

Jenkins apologised in court for referring to Amanda Staveley as a ‘dolly bird’ and ‘tart’

Roger Jenkins, the former head of Barclays’ Middle Eastern business, has been grilled about whether he tried to belittle Amanda Staveley and her role in the bank’s emergency cash call in 2008.

Lawyers for Staveley’s private equity firm PCP Capital Partners, which participated in the fundraising, used email exchanges from the time to suggest that Jenkins had sought to play down her importance in the press — in part to appease the jealousy of his then wife Diana Jenkins.
