The former head of the event-driven team at Cheyne Capital has recruited an ex-colleague to the Europe-focused hedge fund he set up in 2014.

Simon Davies, who left after nearly a decade at Cheyne and launched Sand Grove Capital Management in November 2014, is chief investment officer at the hedge fund. Another former Cheyne colleague, Anooj Unarket, is assistant portfolio manager.
