Former Goldman Sachs banker Simon Dingemans and Sir Jon Thompson, the ex-chief executive of HM Revenue and Customs, have been confirmed as the heads of the UK’s new-look audit watchdog.

The pair will lead the Financial Reporting Council’s transition to the Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority – a new regulator with stronger powers to hold auditors to account.
